FAQ · 46 questions

Questions, answered honestly.

Below are the questions operators actually ask, including the ones where the answer is that Crew Studio is not the right tool. Nothing here is written to close a sale. If a section tells you to use something else, that is the honest answer rather than false modesty.

In one paragraph

Crew Studio is a workspace where a solo operator runs several businesses at once, each with its own team of AI specialists. Every business gets a sealed Studio holding its own voice, memory and integrations. Inside it, four to fifteen specialists debate a brief and return one synthesis.

The basics

6 questions

What Crew Studio is, who it is for, and what it is not.

What is Crew Studio?

Crew Studio is a workspace where a solo operator runs several businesses at once, each with its own team of AI specialists. Every business gets a sealed Studio holding its own voice, memory and integrations. Inside it, four to fifteen specialists debate a brief and return one synthesis.

Who is Crew Studio for?

Crew Studio is built for operators running two or more things in parallel: multi-business founders, ghostwriters with several clients, personal brand consultants, and multi-channel creators. It is not built for someone running a single project who already has a content team.

Is Crew Studio the same as CrewAI?

No. Crew Studio is a hosted product for solo operators, sold at €99 to €199 per month, with sealed Studios and autonomous specialist debates. CrewAI is an open source Python framework for developers building multi-agent systems. Different companies, different codebases, different audiences.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Crew Studio requires no code at any point. Specialists are created by describing a role in one sentence, workflows are created by typing what should happen, and integrations connect through OAuth. The product is built for operators, not developers.

How long before Crew Studio is useful?

Crew Studio is usable on day one with the thirty ready specialists. Studio DNA, the layer that holds a brand voice steady, calibrates over roughly two weeks of real briefs. Most operators report the voice becoming reliable somewhere in the second week.

Is Crew Studio just a wrapper around ChatGPT?

No. Crew Studio uses Claude, GPT and Gemini as engines, but the architecture is its own: sealed Studios, persistent memory per project, Studio DNA, multi-agent debate, scheduled autonomy and OAuth integrations. The models are the engines. Crew Studio is the vehicle around them.

Studios, Crews and Specialists

7 questions

The three primitives the product is built on, and how they fit together.

What is a Studio?

A Studio in Crew Studio is a sealed workspace for one project. It holds its own brand voice, its own audience, its own prior briefs and its own connected apps. Switching between Studios takes one click, and nothing carries over from one to the next.

How many Studios can I create?

Crew Studio does not cap the number of Studios on either plan. Operators typically run one Studio per business or per client account. Four to eight Studios is the common range for a multi-business founder.

What is a Crew?

A Crew is the team inside one Studio. It holds four to fifteen specialists with distinct roles, distinct opinions and a defined hierarchy. Specialists challenge each other and challenge the brief, so the output is stronger than what a single model returns.

What is a Specialist?

A Specialist in Crew Studio is a role with a persona, a set of talents, a tone and explicit guardrails. Thirty ship ready to use, covering copywriting, research, strategy, SEO, sales and design. Any other role is forged on demand from one sentence.

Can I create a specialist that does not exist yet?

Yes. Crew Studio forges a custom specialist from a single sentence in about ten seconds. Describe the function, the tone and the audience, and it generates the persona, the talents, the guardrails and the operating prompt, ready to brief. Forging is free and needs no signup.

What are Departments and the Pilot?

Departments give a Studio an org structure when a single Crew is no longer enough. A Pilot specialist sits above them and routes incoming briefs to the right Crew. Crew Studio adds this for operators running four or more businesses from one account.

What is Crew by goal?

Crew by goal lets an operator describe an outcome rather than a team. Crew Studio reads the goal and assembles a calibrated crew of four to six specialists around it, with roles chosen for that specific objective. It removes the need to know which roles to ask for.

Autonomy and debate

6 questions

What the specialists do between themselves, and what they will not do without you.

Do the specialists really talk to each other?

Yes. Crew Studio runs autonomous Crew Chats where specialists message each other without the operator present. They push back on each other's drafts, decide who leads which part of a brief, and hand off to a synthesis. A typical brief resolves in about four minutes.

What is a Round Table?

A Round Table convenes three to five specialists on one question with structured roles. Each argues a position, one arbitrates, and Crew Studio returns a single synthesis with the reasoning behind it. The operator reviews one decision instead of forty messages.

Do I have to review everything they produce?

No. Crew Studio returns a synthesis: three ranked options, the reasoning for each, and a recommended path. The full thread stays available but is not the deliverable. Reviewing a synthesis takes about twenty seconds instead of twenty minutes.

Can the crew act without asking me?

Crew Studio has three autonomy levels: Ask, Confirm, and Ship on trigger. Ask means nothing happens without the operator. Confirm means work is prepared and held for approval. Ship on trigger means defined actions execute automatically. The level is set per Studio.

What are Schedules?

Schedules are background jobs for a Crew. Crew Studio runs recurring briefs on a set cadence, such as a weekly competitor sweep, a Monday recap, or a monthly content plan. The work happens without the operator opening the app.

What is the Atelier?

The Atelier is a shared canvas where specialists and the operator work on the same document at the same time. Specialists drop drafts, the operator annotates, and specialists iterate on the annotation. Crew Studio keeps the canvas inside the Studio context, so the voice holds.

Voice and memory

5 questions

How a brand voice holds across projects, and what stops them mixing.

What is Studio DNA?

Studio DNA is the layer in Crew Studio that captures how a business speaks: the cadence, the words it reaches for, and the words it would never use. Specialists check every draft against it and flag repetition across campaigns. It calibrates over about two weeks of real briefs.

How does Crew Studio stop brand voices from mixing?

Crew Studio isolates memory at the Studio level. Each business runs in a sealed context with its own voice, audience, prior briefs and connected apps. A specialist calibrated to a skincare brand has no access to the context of a B2B SaaS Studio in the same account.

Does the memory persist between sessions?

Yes. Crew Studio keeps memory at the Studio level, not the conversation level. Prior briefs, decisions, corrections and voice rules stay available across sessions. There is no re-pasting of a brand brief at the start of each week.

Can I correct a specialist when it gets the voice wrong?

Yes. Corrections feed back into Studio DNA rather than staying in one conversation. Crew Studio applies the correction to every future brief in that Studio, and other specialists in the same Crew inherit it. A rule stated once does not need restating.

What happens if I run two businesses in the same industry?

Crew Studio treats them as fully separate Studios regardless of industry overlap. Two competing skincare brands run in the same account without either seeing the other's briefs, voice rules or research. Isolation is structural, not a filter applied at generation time.

Integrations and stack

5 questions

What the crew can reach, natively and through MCP.

Which apps does Crew Studio connect to?

Crew Studio ships native connections to Gmail, Notion, Slack, GitHub, Linear, Stripe, HubSpot and Calendly, with more in the roadmap. Any other tool connects through a custom MCP server, including tools Crew Studio has never listed.

What is an MCP server and why does it matter?

MCP is an open standard for connecting AI systems to external tools. Crew Studio is MCP first, which means an operator can connect any service that exposes an MCP server without waiting for an official integration. The connection belongs to the operator, not to the vendor.

How do specialists reach me?

Crew Studio specialists contact the operator on Telegram when they need an arbitration, a validation or a decision. The operator replies from their phone and the work continues. WhatsApp, Email and iMessage are on the roadmap. Most AI tools wait to be prompted. Crew Studio inverts the initiative.

Can Crew Studio publish or send things on my behalf?

Only at the autonomy level the operator sets. On Ask and Confirm, nothing leaves the Studio without approval. On Ship on trigger, defined actions execute inside the connected apps. The level is configured per Studio and can be changed at any time.

What are Workflows?

Workflows in Crew Studio are built by typing one sentence describing what should happen. The product turns it into a sequence of steps assigned to the right specialists, with the triggers and handoffs set. No canvas to wire, no nodes to connect.

Pricing and billing

6 questions

Both plans, what is included, and what happens if you leave.

How much does Crew Studio cost?

Crew Studio has two plans. Standard is €199 per month or €1,990 per year. Founding is €99 per month or €990 per year, limited to the first fifty seats. Both ship every feature on day one. There is no upsell tier and no per seat pricing.

Are there credits or usage limits?

No. Crew Studio charges one flat monthly price with API costs included, covering Claude, voice and image generation. There are no credits to buy, no per action metering and no mid month cutoff. Fair use applies and is published on the pricing page.

What does the Founding plan add?

Founding adds a direct line to the founder, voting rights on the roadmap, and a founding member badge. It is limited to the first fifty seats. Every product feature is identical between Founding and Standard. Crew Studio does not hold features back for a higher tier.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Crew Studio refunds in one click within thirty days, on both plans, with no email exchange to retain the account. The operator is asked why afterwards so the answer can feed the roadmap, but the refund does not depend on replying.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Crew Studio has no commitment period and no cancellation fee on either plan. Cancelling stops the next billing cycle and keeps access until the end of the current one. Data exports remain available during that window.

Is there a free trial?

Crew Studio does not run a time limited trial. The thirty day refund covers the same purpose without a countdown. Forging a specialist is free and needs no signup, so the core mechanic can be tested before any payment.

Security and data

5 questions

Where the data is, who owns the work, and what is not certified yet.

Does Crew Studio train on my data?

No. Crew Studio never trains any model on operator data. Studio DNA, prior briefs and generated work stay inside the Studio that produced them. This applies to both plans and is not conditional on a setting.

Where is my data hosted?

Crew Studio hosts operator data in the European Union and operates under GDPR. Data location is not a paid option or an enterprise tier feature. It applies to every account on both plans.

Who owns the work the crew produces?

The operator owns it. Crew Studio claims no rights over briefs, Studio DNA, generated drafts or any output. Everything exports in one click, in open formats, at any time and without asking support.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Crew Studio deletes an account and its Studios in one click, including Studio DNA and stored briefs. Deletion is not queued behind a support ticket, and export remains available up to the moment of deletion.

What does Crew Studio not do yet on security?

Crew Studio does not hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification at this stage, and does not offer SSO or SAML. These are documented on the security page rather than omitted. An operator with a procurement process requiring them should wait.

Comparisons

6 questions

Honest comparisons, including the cases where another tool is the better answer.

Crew Studio or ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a general assistant answering one operator at a time, losing context between sessions. Crew Studio runs a persistent team per project, with memory that survives and specialists that debate without the operator present. For one project ChatGPT is cheaper. For three brands in parallel it blends contexts.

Crew Studio or Claude Projects?

Claude Projects holds context per project and does it well, which covers a large part of the need. Crew Studio adds what Projects does not have: several specialists that talk to each other, autonomy while the operator is away, scheduled work, and specialists that message the operator on Telegram.

Crew Studio or Relevance AI?

Relevance AI builds an AI workforce for sales and operations teams, priced and structured for companies. Crew Studio is built for a single operator running several businesses, at €99 to €199 flat with API costs included. Relevance is the better fit for a team with a dedicated ops owner.

Crew Studio or Lindy?

Lindy automates tasks across email, calendar and CRM, and does that well for a single context. Crew Studio holds several sealed contexts at once and runs specialists that debate before producing. An operator automating one inbox should look at Lindy first.

Crew Studio or Sintra AI?

Sintra ships a fixed set of named AI employees shared across the whole account. Crew Studio gives each business its own Crew, forges specialists that do not exist yet, and isolates memory per Studio. Sintra is simpler to start. Crew Studio holds up when the number of brands grows.

I already pay for ChatGPT Plus. Why add Crew Studio?

For one project the answer is usually not to. Crew Studio becomes worth it when an operator runs several brands and loses time re-explaining context, correcting voice drift, and being the only point of coordination. Below two projects, a general assistant is enough.
